My Last Post

Today is the last post that I will write on this site. Kind of sad in a way. I'm going to miss my header, as I so much relate to that woman totally sprawled out in the chair. She looks the way I feel most of the time... exhausted.

Which I am.

Its been hard to tackle moving to a totally new blog, at times I have torn my hair out and even cried in frustration, trying to understand the new platform that is my new blog. I still don't have all the kinks worked out, nor do I have all of the information loaded into it that I want, but I will continue to work at it a little at a time until I have things the way that I want them. So excuse the 'housekeeping', will ya?

Change is always hard for me, I am a creature of habit. BUT! I know that the new site has so much more potential than Blogger would allow me here, and the new site will hopefully feel like home in short order.

Please stop in to the ongoing 'blogwarming' party that is already happening. I have posted there already this morning and you'll see some familiar articles that have migrated from this site to the new one. Hope you'll poke around and take the tour, and know that I've only just begun. Please set your bookmarks and join me on the wild carpet ride that is my new blog!

My How You've Grown...

Wimpy, just hours after he was born. April 2008.

Happy Mother's Day!

Nope, not going to post the traditional Mother's Day post. Instead, I'm going to show off one of my 'babies' to you today.

This is my beloved Wimpy. Well, that's his nickname anyway. His real name is TP Wimpys Top Little Whiz. He is a yearling, with a very famous sire, Wimpys Little Step, the NRHA's youngest million-dollar sire.

Wimpys Little Step

His Mommy isn't too shabby, either. My sweet Windy, or should I say Topsails Windy Whiz, is the daughter of another NRHA phenom, and 2009 Nine Million Dollar sire, Topsail Whiz. Yep, he's a producer. In a big way. And beautiful, just like his daughter, my sweet mare, Windy.

Topsail Whiz

I have a special bond with both Windy, and her first foal, Wimpy. When Windy was a 3 year old at the NRHA Futurity, she was a real diva. Back then, I didn't like her too much, thought she was cocky and had an attitude. She still has her strong will, but I have never seen such a wonderful mother in a mare (and I think they're ALL great mothers, but this one is exceptional). Topsails Windy Whiz

When she was in foal with Wimpy, I stayed up with her for a few nights right before his birth, pacing the floor and tending to her needs. She has been the only one of all of our mares that actually foaled in the barn. Carrying such precious cargo, we couldn't run the risk of putting them in danger outside...

first photo of Wimpy, right after his birth 4/ 2008

His birth was a much anticipated and exciting event. Of course, in typical mare fashion, she chose to foal the one night I wasn't in the barn, and so I missed it! The photo shown above is the first shot of sweet Wimpy.

And look at him today:
What a beautiful yearling he is!
And totally sweet and full of mischief. He and my son have quite a bond already. Wimpy is the most gentle and trusting young horse I have ever known. He is truly a exceptional horse and he holds a very special place in my heart.

My Humble Garden

I wouldn't exactly go so far as to say that my thumbs are turning green yet, but after planting Monday's garden, I already see corn and sunflowers popping up (I planted seeds directly in the ground).

Yes I am proud of this itsy-bitsy achievement.

Frantic Friday

Another Friday...

Busy day.

On Fridays, I tend to go have lunch with the kindergartners at 11am. I really get a kick out of their personalities and I have a great time with them for 30 minutes or so. Its slowly become a Friday tradition that I will show up for lunch with Subway in hand, and 'surprise' little D.

It does require me to be organized and moving at lightning speed to be able to pull it off. Lots to do every Friday morning in order to get there on time for lunch.

This particular Friday morning, I wish I could have just gone back to bed. We went to visit friends last night in Houston and we didn't get home until 1:42 and I got to bed at 2. When you get up at 5am each weekday, 2am as a bedtime just seems insane.

Needless to say, getting up this morning was painful. I require a LOT of sleep, at least 8 hours but I'm working at full capacity when I get 10 hours (which rarely happens). When someone like me, who needs a lot of sleep to ,gets only 3 hours? Lets just say that its not a pretty sight...

But its Friday... end of the week and I'm hoping to sleep in tomorrow morning and catch up alittle bit. But in the meantime, I must hit 'publish' and take off to meet the gaggle of Little People that will be waiting for me! :)

Have a great weekend and for you Moms out there: celebrate a fantastic Mother's Day. To be a Mother is both the hardest and most rewarding responsibility that anyone can experience. I hope you're pampered and fawned over this Mother's Day as I know you deserve it and so much more!
